Hello magazine creator:

I've put together a project page that showcases a very special style of illustration which seems to be hitting the mainstream....again! Mahendra's work has been featured on magazines books and ads for the past 20 years.

Check out his style below. Like what you see? Call or write.

artist: mahendra singh
market: urban magazine
technical info: Line art created using pen and ink or paintbrush, colored using a variety of analog and digital methods.

artist’s comments:
I love this style because its very direct and unambiguous, you can make a strong statement with its dramatic color contrasts, heavy blacks and graceful linework. At the same time, because this style is based on the classic American comicbook drawing styles of the 40s and 50s, it has a certain retro, melodramatic feel to it that lends itself especially well to editorial work. It can give a campy "Superman" or "film noir" feel to a piece.

this comic book brush & ink style was, used by Charles Burns, Will Eisner, Frank Frazetta, Alex Raymond
