artist: c.r.é.é.
market: Retail Toys
technical info: Created using a combination of 3D softwares, Autocad and Photoshop. Final instructions and layout done in Quark.
artist's comments: These puzzles were created using Autocad as well as 3D softwares for the mechanical development, the structural design, and maximization of surface material to be used. (this was based on final box weight. 2 different sized models had been developed as well. Small and Large). The final data for routing was rendered for but PC and MAC platforms.
The founder of BC Bones had established a method of creating their models and had been doing it that way for many years. Once he sold the company, the new owners had to find a supplier that could do the same thing, or better. We proposed a 3D approach that used VR prototypes for the proposal stage. The mechanical development was done using 3D softwares. The structural aspect of the design was rendered as a die line for their router software & machine.
During each step, the client could offer direction and comments regarding the ongoing project. Once the final die line had been worked into a prototype and tested, we created the step by step instruction sheet that showed their clients how to assemble the building. We incorporated the step-by step artworks into a graphic layout for them as well. |
