artist's comments: Journey Stone Creations asked me to illustrate and adorable story named Indigo's Gift about the "odd man out" in a family of bunnies.
Indigo was a bunny who thought he had had no special talents like his vast family of brothers and sisters. He soon discovered otherwise. The illustrations had to appeal to young children, so I used vibrant colors with descriptive scenes. The publisher needed the story quickly, so I had to produce the illustrations in a short amount of time. I enjoyed working with the publisher, who was very flexible and open to my ideas. This type of relationship with the client paves the way for a very creative flow of work.
I enjoyed the challenge that the time restraints posed coupled with the free creative rein. This situation is exciting to me as an illustrator. The publisher was thrilled with the outcome. |
