artist's comments:
The publisher wanted an illustration for the frontispiece of a new title. I had basically carte blanche to choose anything from the book to show. I enjoyed the dark subject matter in the book and chose a scene that was one of the most gruesome in the book. It lent itself well to my style and allowed me to work on the textures in the illustration to show clouds and smoke. The coloring was done digitally and the whole book illustration was sent via ftp.
