artist's comments:
The art director for Organic Gardening Magazine (Rodale) had seen the artwork I had done for the Montreal Botanical Gardens displays. She asked that I produce 12 illustrations depicting common types of poison plants found in the forest and in the garden. Within that series I also produced several renderings of poison ivy depicting what it looked like throughout its' growing season. The results were quite captivating and the client was very happy. The clients' other choice was to use stock photos, but there were none that looked remotely similiar in perspective and style. Plus, it would have required many hours of retouching to arrive at something clean. Viva illustration!
